Blue Monster in the House

Did you know that Mamee is a Malaysian brand and it originated from Melaka? This famous snack was founded in 1971 and is now exported to more than 100 countries! They produce more than 50 products, including every kids’ (and many adults’) favorite Mamee Monster, Ethan’s favorite Mr Potato, Isabel’s favorite Mamee Chef and my favorite Double Decker.

As we were walking along Jonker Walk after lunch during our short weekend trip to Melaka, we stumbled upon Mamee Jonker House not too far along the from the famous San Sun Gong snacks shop. Being huge fans of the brand, we could not resist from going in. Plus, the big blue Mamee Monster was looking so cute at the entrance.

There’s a brief explanation of how every kids’ favorite snack is made:

There was a workshop upstairs where kids could learn how to make Mamee Monster snack.

Only Isabel was interested in the workshop, though. Here’s my little chef getting all ready…

Ok, let’s get started. First, pour the flour into a mixing bowl.

I can’t remember what she poured in next 🙂

Mix the 2 ingredients together into a dough.

Put the dough into the machine to flatten it…

Keep it sealed in a plastic bag and let it set.

The dough needs 20 minutes to set, so meanwhile, it’s time to colour the packaging.

Twenty minutes is up.  Just need to flatten it some more….

And then  put it through the machine to shred into noodles.

Put the noodles into a tray.

Steam the noodles….

Once steamed, take 38 grams of the noodles and put into bowl.

Add seasoning…

And mix….

Time to get it fried….

The place looks so cute with all the Mamee Monsters.

You can also decorate your own Mamee Chef Noodle Cup. There were so many adults colouring their cups.

Aren’t these toilet signs just too cute?

Cafe downstairs which serves instant noodles and more.

Here’s our favorite fried Mamee instant noodles with satay.

Isabel liked the fried instant noodles so much that she ordered a second plate. Well, actually Isabel is a big fan of instant noodles, whatever the brand may be. My mother will freak out if she knows of this 🙂
